The Jefferson Parish Council established the committee for the purpose of advising the Regional Planning Commission on the identification of a system of potential routes, recreational trails and bicycle boulevards with the inclusion of linkages that will provide for connectivity throughout Jefferson Parish and informing prioritization or a hierarchical approach to project and program implementation.
The Regional Planning Commission and Jefferson Parish invite you to participate in the Jefferson Parish Bicycle Master Plan public forums. These public events will provide an overview of the planning process and give attendees an opportunity to voice ideas and concerns for bicycling in the Parish, and inform the content of the plan. It will also be a chance for residents to learn about what makes a community “bicycle friendly,” and what national models Jefferson Parish can pursue.
Two meetings will take place, each with the same content and format:
Monday January 28, 6:30pm – 8:00pm at the East Bank Regional Library Napoleon Room, 4747 W. Napoleon Ave., Metairie
Wednesday January 30, 6:30pm – 8:00pm at the West Bank Regional Library Meeting Room, 2751 Manhattan Blvd., Harvey
Members of the planning team will be on hand to engage residents in the planning process and receive feedback.
Date: Wednesday, December 19, 2012
Time: 2 p.m.
Place: Old Metairie Library
2350 Metairie Road
Metairie, La. 70001
Additional parking is available at 2431 Metairie Road, courtesy of the American Legion.
The purpose of the meeting is to introduce the Citizens Advisory Committee to the project team, review initial findings on the state of bicycling in Jefferson Parish and discuss the study schedule. Please advise if you are able to attend the meeting by emailing Lydia Jemison at firstname.lastname@example.org.
